With 5 million+ annual page views on average, relias.com is the largest Wordpress site I have managed as a developer to date. In my time at the company, I rose from junior to lead developer for relias.com, working with multiple teams across the company to make the site more modular, accessible, and reliable as a key driver in the company's B2B sales pipeline.
Because relias.com was previously built on static templates and a poorly-coded child theme, I had the opportunity to modernize the template hierarchy with page-building components that are scalable and on-brand.
Relias product and resource archive pages, all built with configurable components
I provided training sessions, video recordings, and written documentation for non-technical teams to easily onboard and build pages for new campaigns and product offerings.
Private pages with sample components were provided to let users experiment with available layout options
The code architecture I built allowed me to respond quickly to new needs and company initiatives. As an example, I was able to launch an archive and template structure for the company's new Vitals+Vision podcast in a single sprint.
New marketing initiatives are accelerated by a scalable, modular codebase
I worked closely with business operations teams to modify integrations with marketing automation platforms and track visitor data to help identify better qualified leads for sales. In addition to page builds, I often wrote lightweight scripts and functions to tailor a visitor's experience to their form responses.
Alternate thank you page options expose visitors to content tailored to their interests
I managed a transition between marketing automation tools to ensure that new form gates functioned correctly and gathered data as expected. As lead developer on the project, I collaborated with business systems and marketing teams to set a project schedule and build in test phases to ensure a seamless transition.
Relias.com features a resource library of more than 500 gated resources authored by experts across the organization
I worked with the InfoSec and Legal teams to build a security center on relias.com. This involved building a series of pages that allowed visitors to learn about the data Relias collects, see/change their consent states, and submit inquiries to a data privacy officer.
The security center integrates with Cookiebot, a third-party consent management platform
I also collaborated with the German team to help them model their own security center on relias.de after relias.com. This involved a more careful configuration of their consent management platform to ensure that relias.de was compliant with the EU’s GDPR.
I led an effort to optimize the use of existing scripts, refactor stylesheets to minimize selector bloat, and audit and remove unneeded third-party tools.
I was able to reduce the site's minified stylesheet size by more than 70% and boost overall Lighthouse page speed rankings by 50-60% on average.
